Appeal and Reappraisal Processes

Further information related to the reappraisal and appeals process can be found at: cumming.ucalgary.ca/mdprogram/about/governance/policies in the following relevant documents:

  • CSM Reappraisal of Graded Term Work and Academic Assessments

  • CSM UME Academic Assessment and Graded Term Work Procedures

Reappraisal Process

Students may request a reappraisal of any unsatisfactory summative evaluation decision for graded term work or academic assessment (final course grade) within the MD Program. Students should be familiar with the policy for CSM Reappraisal of Graded Term Work and Academic Assessments. This policy outlines the procedures and appropriate rationale for requesting a reappraisal.

Appeals Process

A student may request an appeal of any reappraisal decision. Students should be familiar with the policy for CSM UME Academic Assessment and Graded Term Work Procedures. This document outlines the procedure and appropriate rationale for requesting an appeal for an unsatisfactory result. Appeals must have gone through the appropriate reappraisal process.

University Appeals Committee

Decisions of the UME Faculty Appeals Committee may be appealed to the University Appeals Committee.

Procedures for appealing a final grade reappraisal beyond the departmental level are detailed in J. Student Appeals to the University Appeals Committee and University Appeals Tribunal and are the same for a final grade as for a piece of graded term work.
